University of Ibadan

History

First founded in 1948, the University of Ibadan was originally one of many college branches of the University of London, the British institution would oversee the development and processes of the institution as part of it’s attempt to properly introduce secondary education to the nation, in fact while Ibadan itself was the merger of previous schools, as those focused on vocational education, Ibadan is the first proper University of Nigeria.

In the present day after, separating from the University of London in 1962, the institution has grown into a large and robust institution with one of the widest academic selection the country has to offer, and has by far and large become the premier college level institution in the country.

Admission requirements

Admission into the University of Ibadan is handled by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, as is common for all Federal Institutions in the country, as such prospective students are required to present the UTME Test, UTME which stands for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is a test presented through computers that lasts roughly 2 hours and helps grade students interested in undergraduate programs across the nation.

Student Life

The University of Ibadan seeks first and foremost to maintain a humane environment from which it’s student body can continue to develop their academic skills, as such an strong emphasis is put on students to be inclusive, respectful of others and to adhere to the student handbook at all times.

Part-time work

The University of Ibadan counts with it’s own dedicated Study Work office, from which students who desire to work alongside their studies can apply to a wide variety of jobs, ranging from assistantship at the institution, to catering or even security jobs.

Fees

When it comes to the University of Ibadan, fees can get somewhat complex, however Nigerain Undergraduate students themselves are exempt from paying fees, so Fees will ultimately be paid only by residents, international students and those looking to enroll in a postgraduate program.

A student enrolling will spend $1750 Naira on basic entrance fees, those looking for Accommodation will pay around $15000 Naira, and from there on they’ll also incur costs of roughly $9500 Naira for various admission and tuition fees.
